FIS Cross-Country World Cup – Tour de Ski - Toblach, Italy
As the Tour de Ski takes a brief pause for today, we’re seizing the opportunity to recap the thrilling first half of the competition, hosted in the stunning Dolomites in Toblach, Italy.
The Tour kicked off with a skate sprint, where the sprint king Johannes Høsflot Klæbo lived up to expectations, claiming victory in Stage 1. Meanwhile, Jessie Diggins, the defending champion, surprised everyone with a win in the women’s sprint, securing the golden bib as the Tour leader.
Both Klæbo and Diggins held onto their leader positions after the Stage 2 classic 15km race, with Diggins’ unexpected triumph in the classic race, very first in her distinguished career, adding to the excitement.
Stage 3 introduced new winners, but the overall standings remained unchanged. However, Stage 4 shook up the women’s rankings as Astrid Øyre Slind claimed back-to-back victories, earning her the golden bib. On the men’s side, Harald Ø. Amundsen also secured two consecutive wins in Stages 3 and 4, climbing to third place overall, while Klæbo maintained his golden bib.
